My dear Scholz, given the current Russian forced ratios on the Caspian steppe there is nothing NATO can do to protect you. I think you are under the impression that tactical nuclear weapons or the 82nd Airborne in Poland will deter the Russians.
No, they won’t.
The 82nd Airborne cannot stop the Russian 20th Guards as well as the 1st Guards Tank Army. They outnumber the Americans 6:1 in Infantry and 4:1 in tanks—approximately. Let me make this clear, there is no chance that the United States can get the force ratios needed from American soil to stop the Russians. Meaning, the 82nd Airborne is there to be overrun.
Why? The 82nd Airborne being overrun will authorize the release of nuclear weapons. Therefore, Poland and Germany will become a nuclear wasteland in a futile attempt to stop Russian armor. Or, a futile attempt to stop Russian tanks from being to the port of Antwerp within a fortnight. It is even possible for Russia to reinforce with Chinese infantry as a reserve element. In any case, the PLA has the Russian eastern flank by default.
Russia has the potential to split Europe into two pieces and end NATO– RIGHT NOW. Hence, Europe (in reality) is Russia’s sphere of influence.
