This ridiculous story jumped out at me the moment it became ‘a thing’ in the mainstream media. In my time, I have heard and seen a lot of horseshit. However, the outright audacity of this claim deserves a righteous takedown as well as an examination of the need for people to believe — the lie.
To start with, let’s simply examine the physical and technical impossibilities of Patriot SAMs shooting down hypersonic weapons of any kind. And I will not spend a lot of time on the technical impossibilities of this subject.
It’s absolutely ridiculous.
The claim is, the MIM-104 Patriot SAM shot down a Kh-47 Kinzhal. This can be summed up in one sentence: It is public knowledge, Patriot SAMs will not allow the Patriot system to get a (head-on) target designation on any flying object traveling over [Mach 3].
Meaning, the MIM-104s software will not allow you to launch the weapon to intercept a flying object traveling along at hypersonic. This is simply due to the fact the PAC-3 missile needs to be traveling 1.5 times faster than the object it is pursuing.
It’s also public knowledge that the PAC-3 MSE travels at a maximum speed of [Mach 4]. The Kh-47 Kinzhals maximum speed is a blistering [Mach 12]. Just the kinetic energy of this weapon alone will sink most Nimitz-class carriers.
And So…
The whole story is a steaming pile of transparent horse pucky and for some reason, some people want to believe it. But why?
Most Americans are starting to get the idea that there is a serious problem with the Western defense establishment. But, due to the complexities of this subject, most people do not understand what the problems really are. Or how to rationalize these subjects in their minds. The American people are by no means alone, in the Senate, most Washington politicians have no idea what the fuck they are talking about and are completely confused as to what American Military capabilities are.
To get a clearer picture of this effect, for the last 24 months, I’ve been paying very close attention to the Department of Defense hearings in Washington. I have seen Senators reading from prepared statements and then asking a few questions and then leaving the meetings. The vast majority of these people haven’t served one day in uniform and are lawyers in the way they think and feel. What is clear, they understand the state of the union is in deep trouble and they don’t know how to resolve the problems.
The fact is, most of these people know that the — American problem — is beyond salvation.
For the average American, if you tell them that the Patriot shot down — a hypersonic weapon traveling along at [Mach 12]. Most Americans will want to believe that it’s true. Americans want to believe in something even if that- (something) is a lie. Much like the ‘allegory of the cave’. And the truth is, most Americans do not have broad horizons in their thinking.
If the media reinforces a lie that surrounds the American military establishment. Most Americans will want to believe the lie and will ignore the truth in many cases. For example, if a Senator has been collecting money from their special interest and their family has a beautiful home in the Hamptons as well as a mountain lake home in Bigfork. The last thing they want to hear (is that) America is going to lose the World Reserve Currency and that American military dominance is in question. Some families have small homes and live modest lives with their children. And American foreign policy is beyond anything they know.
The truth is most Americans are credulous and will believe anything they are told. they want everything to remain the same and they don’t want anything to interfere with little Johnny’s XBOX time.
That is precisely why the lack of Integrity in the mainstream media is so obvious. There is still a significant majority of people in the United States that find comfort in the big lie. They want to be lied to and at the same time want everything to remain the same.
